Project: No Excuses Marketing 2014: Demonstrate Value and Drive Results
Company: Madison, Wisconsin Chapter of the American Marketing Association
Challenge: Plan and organize the chapter’s 6th annual marketing conference event, attracting marketing professionals from across southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
Action: As the conference committee chair, I invited other talented and well-connected Madison-area marketers to join the planning committee. I led brainstorming to determine the theme of the event to address common excuses used by companies not to do more with marketing to improve their business, excuses including “Marketing can’t be measured,” “Branding doesn’t make money,” and “We don’t know where to start.”
Result: By including national level speakers–from companies like Emma email marketing, Hinge Marketing and VisionEdge–who had not previously presented in Madison, the event attracted new and increased attendance, as well as corporate sponsorship. It was also recognized for exceptional conference quality and professionalism.
“The conference was great. Thank you for all your hard work putting a great conference together.”
